The Oak at Twin Creeks | South Austin Subdivision
The Oak at Twin Creeks is a new home community that is being developed by KB Homes. Sales in the neighborhood began in 2006. Development is continuing, though the real estate market has slowed the building of new homes. The neighborhood is located on the west side of South 1st St., between W. Slaughter Lane and FM-1626. It is close to the Southpark Meadows shopping development, to schools and to the Mary Moore Searight Metro Park. It is easy to get to I-35 from The Oak at Twin Creeks for commuting to downtown or other job locations.
Homes in The Oak at Twin Creeks vary in size from 1,903 sq. ft. to over 5,200 sq. ft. Prices range from around $200K to the mid $350's. Prospective home buyers can find homes that are one- or two-story, with many standard and upgradeable features that make them very nice and energy efficient.
The large oak tree on the north side of the neighborhood seems to have provided the stimulus for the name "The Oak at Twin Creeks." It has been preserved in a park area, and is quite striking. The tree theme has been carried on through the neighborhood, with several streets names after the oak tree, and two others after pecan and elm trees. The Oak at Twin Creeks has a community park at its southwest corner. It features a walking/jogging trail, a preserved windmill and a play area for children.
