Being close to jobs, shopping, and downtown Austin is important to lots of homeowners. But how do you do that if you can't afford a home in Tarrytown or other expensive areas? There are a number of options available to you in SW Austin, including the neighborhood called Legend Oaks. If you are looking for a nice home in a quiet, well-treed neighborhood in a great location, take a close look at Legend Oaks. It is located on the north side of the Villages of Western Oaks, just south of the western portion of William Cannon. Legend Oaks was begun in 1987, and development continued through 2001. The original Legend Oaks has 353 of the roughly 1,000 homes in the neighborhood. This section has its own recreation center for homeowners and their guests, located at 6314 Oliver Loving Trail. Features include clubhouse, swimming pool, tennis court and playscape.
The Legend Oaks development also includes Legend Oaks II and the Woods of Legend Oaks. The latter has a nice playscape, picnic area and small soccer practice field. Legend Oaks II has its own HOA amenity center (at Escarpment and Convict Hill) with clubhouse, swimming pool, playscape, and courts for basketball and volleyball.
Nearby shopping and eating establishments include those at the new Arbor Trails center at William Cannon and Mopac. This center is anchored by Costco, and has a furniture store, restaurants, banks, and other small businesses. There are also WalMart (being upgraded into a Super WalMart), Sam's Club and Target stores at the junction of Mopac and US 290/71.
