Thank You, Dad!
On this Father's Day 2008, I am watching the U. S. Open Golf Tournament. Yesterday, Tiger electrified the course and took the tournament lead with two eagles and a birdie on the last 5 holes. Maybe he will win today -- history says that he probably will.
I would love to have the chance to play one more round of golf with my dad. I can't remember the last round we played, but it was a number of years ago. In his last years, he could didn't have the leg strength to play, and gradually lost his vision. I am thankful that he introduced me to golf almost 50 years ago. It was one of the best things (among many) that he did for me.
Most of all, I remember his dedication to his work, and to his church and faith in Christ. At the ripe old age of 90, he was still teaching Sunday School and I was preparing LARGE print sheets of Bible passages that he could use to prepare his lessons. Nothing could slow him down until his health did. I look forward to seeing him again some day on the streets of gold.
For all you (and mom) did for me, many thanks!
