Begun in 2015, this pocket neighborhood has 37 homes when completed. It is development of CalAtlantic Homes (recent merger of Ryland and Standard Pacific Homes). CalAtlantic has developed quite a number of neighborhoods in the Austin area under its previous brands. These include Grey Rock Ridge and Avana in SW Austin (Circle C Ranch) and Buda's Whispering Hollow.

All of these homes included many appealing standard features. These include energy-efficient features, tankless water heaters, stylish interiors, full sod and sprinkler system, and either granite or Silestone countertops in the kitchen. Many other upgrade options were available for buyers to personalize their homes.
These stand-alone, single-family residences are legally site condos (site condomimiums) similar to other projects currently being built is the Austin area. Owners of these homes are responsible for all interior and exterior maintenance, insurance, and side and rear yard maintenance. The HOA takes care of the neighborhood front yards and all common areas.

West Oak provides no neighborhood amenities, but does have easy access to many features in the immediate area and in the larger Austin area. The Jimmy Clay and Roy Kizer public courses in SE Austin, and the Grey Rock Golf Club in SW Austin are operated by the City of Austin. The Plum Creek Golf Club can be found in nearby Kyle.
West Oak is close to the Mary Moore Searight Metro Park and its facilities (owned and operated by the City of Austin).
Located on Manchaca Rd. between W. Slaughter Lane and William Cannon in S Austin, West Oak is close to both IH-35 and S. Mopac. Residents will find it a fairly simple drive (depending on the time of day, of course) to get to Downtown Austin, jobs, schools, shopping and other places of interest.
