The University Hills neighborhood was begun in 1959. A large percentage of its approximately 1,500 homes were built in the 1959-1973. A few more homes were added to the neighborhood inventory in the years 1975-2008.
The homes in University Hills are quite varied in size and features. They range from homes as small as 888 sq. ft. to one with 3,640 sq. ft. The neighborhood is accented by wide streets and plenty of trees. Some lots back to greenbelt areas or to Little Walnut Creek. Homes that are on the market or have been sold through the years include those that have been updated or redone.
Area Amenities ♦ University Hills Austin
University Hills neighborhood sits on the northern side of the Dottie Jordan Park and Pool, located at 2803 Loyola Ln. This park and recreation area is owned by the City of Austin and is operated by its Parks and Recreation Dept. Features include a large pool, picnic areas, sports courts (tennis and basketball), and children's play equipment. This 11.29-acre park also provides access to walking trails that run through the area.
The neighborhood has great access to US-183, US-290, Downtown Austin and the Mueller development and its housing and shopping facilities. Golfers are close to the Bluebonnet Hills Golf Club, and two of the public courses operated by the City of Austin: Morris Williams and Hancock. It is a short drive from University Hills to the University of Texas.
There is no mandatory-membership in a homeowners' association (HOA) in University Hills, though a voluntary association with University Hills Neighborhood Association is available.
