The Tanglewood Oaks subdivision is actually one of the newest parts of the large Cherry Creek development. Though its popular name is Tanglewood Oaks, the 2 sections of this neighborhood are legally described as part of Cherry Creek. Homes in this neighborhood were built by Milburn Homes in the years 1995 through 1998. Milburn was later purchased by D.R. Horton.
These homes are very nice homes that are typical of the homes that Milburn was building in that time (Sendera is another nearby Milburn development). They come in single- and 2-story models, and have either 3 or four bedrooms. The homes sold in Tanglewood Oaks in the last 5 years had from 1,294 to 2,171 sq. ft. of living space.
Tanglewood Oaks South Austin ♦ Amenities and Shopping
Homeowners and residents of Tanglewood Oaks have many options for shopping and eating out, most of which were not available when the neighborhood was developed. There are several major centers along W. Slaughter Ln., including Escarpment Village in Circle C Ranch, Shady Hollow Village at Brodie Ln., Tanglewood Village at Manchaca Rd. and Southpark Meadows at IH-35. There are a number of other options available, including local small businesses.
The City of Austin operates several public parks close to Tanglewood Oaks. These provide a number of options for recreation and family outings. The largest of these parks are the Metro Park and the Mary Moore Searight Park on W. Slaughter Ln.
Golfers are not far from the Grey Rock and Plum Creek Golf Clubs, and the City of Austin's Jimmy Clay and Roy Kizer courses. The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the Veloway (a rollerblading and bicycling track) are located on the eastern edge of the Circle C Ranch development.

Tanglewood Oaks is in the jurisdiction of the City of Austin. Taxes are levied by the City, Travis County and the Austin ISD, along with some smaller entities. The total tax rate for the year 2011 was just above $2.30/$100 of assessed property value. The City of Austin provides the main utilities for Tanglewood Oaks: electricity, water, sewer, and solid waste pick-up.
Residents living in Tanglewood Oaks are required to be members of the Tanglewood Oaks HOA. Fees in January 2012 were around $200 anually. The neighborhood shares a park with the section of Cherry Creek just to its west.
