A look at some homes in Tanglewood Forest.Homes in Tanglewood Forest were built in two periods: 1982-1988, primarily by Milburn Homes and Doyle Wilson Homes, and 1992-1997 by builders Wilshire Homes and Merit Homes. Overall, the subdivision is a fairly large one in South Austin (but is a lot smaller than Cherry Creek).

Some of these homes have 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, while others are 3/2, 4/2 or 4/2.5, and provide buyers with either single- or 2-story design choices.

Most homes in the neighborhood have 1-car or 2-car garages, but through the years some garages have been converted to provide more living space for owner/occupants. It is probable that a good mix of the homes have been updated or upgraded also.

Slaughter Ln., including Tanglewood Village at the intersection of W. Slaughter and Manchaca Rd., Shady Hollow Village at Brodie Ln., Southpark Meadows at IH-35, and the Escarpment Village in Circle C Ranch. There are a number of other options available along IH-35, on William Canon Dr., on Brodie Ln. (Sunset Valley), and on Mopac (Shops at Arbor Trails, e.g.). There are many small business establishments in the area also. 

The City of Austin operates several public parks close to Tanglewood Forest. These provide a number of options for recreation and family outings. The largest of these parks are the Metro Park in Circle C Ranch and the Mary Moore Searight Park, both on W. Slaughter Ln. 

Tanglewood Forest PlayscapeGolfers can play the City of Austin's Roy Kizer, Jimmy Clay and Grey Rock golf courses, and also the Plum Creek Golf Club located in nearby Kyle, TX.

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the Veloway (a rollerblading and bicycling track) both are located on the eastern edge of the large and nearby Circle C Ranch community.

Taxes are levied by the Austin ISD, the City of Austin, Travis County, the Limited District, and some smaller entities. Taxes on properties in the subdivision during the 2015 tax year had a total tax rate of $2.48/$100 of assessed property value. The City of Austin provides these utilities for Tanglewood Forest residents: electricity, water, sewer, and solid waste pick-up.

The neighborhood's primary amenity center features a community pool, playscape and playground, picnic tables, cinder walking trail and two tennis courts. Residents also have access to three other neighborhood parks -- Greenbriar Park, Howellwood Park and Lindshire Park (with a popular pond that is home to ducks and turtles).
