This pocket community of 36 homesites was a work of MileStone Community Builders. Other South Austin neighborhoods that have been developed by MileStone include the Southbridge Villas and the Courtyards of Southpark Meadows. In addition to its South Austin location, one of the strong drawing points of Stinson Oaks, is the number of mature oak trees in the subdivision. These oaks add much to the appeal of the neighborhood!

Initial homebuyers in Stinson Oaks chose from six different plans offered by MileStone. These included one single-story model (The Frio) with 1,509 sq. ft. of living space, and five two-story plans with 1,637 to 2,273 sq. ft. (San Jacinto, Colorado, Guadalupe, San Bernard, and Lamar).

The models of homes available in Stinson Oaks are much like those in the neighboring Southbridge Villas neighborhood. Several of the home plans bear the names of Downtown Austin streets and of Texas rivers.

These homes are stand-alone residences, but are legally described as site condos, similar to other Milestone projects like the Southbridge Villas just up the street. Owners of these homes, in contrast to most condo homes, are responsible for maintaining insurance on their homes, and for repairs and upkeep.

Stinson Oaks is well-located for getting to jobs, whether they are to the north, south east or west of the neighborhood. Shopping options include Southpark Meadows (IH-35 South and W. Slaughter Ln.), Tanglewood Village (Manchaca Rd. and W. Slaughter), the Shops at Arbor Trails (Mopac and William Cannon), and those in and near Sunset Valley.

The neighborhood has a small community park and is not far from the Mary Moore Searight Metro Park, owned and operated by the City of Austin. Golfers can try their hand at Jimmy Clay and Roy Kizer public courses, along with the Plum Creek and Grey Rock (public, now owned by the City of Austin) courses. There are several ways to get to Downtown Austin, including Manchaca/Lamar, South 1st and IH-35.

Owners of a home in the Stinson Oaks neighborhood pay mandatory HOA fees to provide complete front and back yardcare (including landscaping & irrigation), trash pickup, and other common area maintenance.
