Steeplechase Kyle Builders & Homes
The development of, and home sales in, Steeplechase began in 1997 by Main Street Homes, which built the bulk of the homes in the subdivision. Other builders in the neighborhood included KB Home (Kaufman and Broad, homes in the Park at Steeplechase), Ryland Homes and Hampton Homes.
All of the homes in Steeplechase were built in the years 1997 through 2006. They include both single- and two-story plans that vary in size from just under 1,000 sq. ft. to almost 3,000 sq. ft. Buyers will find varying features in these homes: 3-5 bedrooms, 2-3.5 bathrooms, 2-car garages.
It is likely that many of the homes will have had some updates completed by current and prior owners (renovations to kitchens and baths, appliances, flooring, interior and exterior paint, e.g.). These updates, of course, add to the value and to the appeal of these homes.

The prime amenity for residents of this neighborhood is the Steeplechase Park, which is owned and operated by the City of Kyle. The park covers 31 acres and includes covered pavilion, picnic facilities, playground and playscape, sand volleyball court, basketball court, two baseball/softball fields, a soccer field and a disc golf course. Plum Creek runs through the length of the park. The Steeplechase neighborhood borders the northeast side of the Park. The southwest side is bordered by another subdivision, Prairie on the Creek.
Property taxes on homes in Steeplechase and in The Park at Steeplechase are levied by Hays County, the Hays Consolidated ISD, the City of Kyle and several smaller taxing entities.
Steeplechase Travel, Shopping and More
Steeplechase is located right off of IH-35, the main road between San Antonio and Austin. Convenience for getting to schools, jobs, eating out, shopping, recreational activities and more is a plus for residents living in the Steeplechase neighborhoods. Connecting for travel via the Austin Bergstrom Intercontinental Airport (ABIA) is also pretty straightforward. Take IH-35 north to US-71/290 and turn east, or take SH-45 to SH-130 to and turn east onto US-71.
Shopping and Eating
Two newish retail developments along IH-35 in Kyle are quite near to Steeplechase. These are The Village at Kyle (with big-box stores WalMart SuperCenter & Lowe's, on the east side of IH-35) and the Kyle Marketplace and Kyle Crossing (with big-box outlets like HEB Plus & Target, on the west side of IH-35). The Kyle Town Centre (Home Depot and EVO Entertainment) is just to the north. The Ascension Seton Medical Center Hays was opened in Late 2009 (part of The Village at Kyle develepment). The area also has a number of walk-in type healthcare/ememgency centers.
Go south to San Marcos and you will find many retail facilities like the Tanger Outlet & Premium Outlets. Buda is known for its Cabela's Outdoor World store, along with its Super WalMart and HEB stores, and a number of eateries. South Austin features the Southpark Meadows development (with WalMart SuperCenter, Target, Sam's Club, RoomStore, J. C. Penneys, and more).
The closest golf course to Steeplechase, located in Kyle (the Plum Creek Golf Club), is a challenging, 18-hole, full-featured layout with clubhouse, driving range, and putting green. Other courses like the Riverside, Jimmy Clay and Roy Kizer golf courses in South Austin and the Grey Rock Golf Club (Southwest Austin) are also available.
