In November 2011, Ravenscroft experienced an upswing of new townhome construction. Though the development began in 2007, the economic downturn severely cramped the progress of A view of the Ravenscroft Townhome neighborhood in South Austin.Ravenscroft. Patriot Homes, the original developer, stopped its work, and Milestone Community Builders began buildiing in 2011. Its work there is now finished.

While building, Milestone offered five new townhome floorplans, each with a famous literary or musical name: Shakespeare, Mozart, Longfellow, Hemmingway and Bronte. Their four 2-story layouts had from 1,236 to 1,736 sq. ft. of living space, while the 1-story plan had 1,329 sq. ft.  

These Ravenscroft townhomes have 2 or 2.5 baths, 2-3 bedrooms and a single-car garage with door opener. The standard features included many things once considered upgrades, including energy efficient windows and insulation, rounded sheetrock corners, satin nickel doorknobs and light fixtures, and much more!

Ravenscroft Townhomes ♦ Taxes, HOA & Utilities

A late afternoon view of the Ravenscroft community pool.Owners of townhomes in Ravenscroft are required to maintain membership in the Ravenscroft HOA. The fees are used to take care of the subdivision common areas (including the community pool).

The primary utility providers in Ravenscroft are the City of Austin (electricity, water, sewer, waste) and Texas Gas Service (natural gas). Townhome owners have options for cable, internet and phone services.

The tax rates on townhomes in Ravenscroft typically change from year to year. Taxes are assessed by the Austin ISD, City of Austin, Travis County and other entities.

Ravenscroft ♦ Shopping and Recreation Options

Since the time Ravenscroft was started, the number of shopping options for Ravenscroft residents and others in South Austin, especially along W. Slaughter Lane, has greatly improved. These include the very popular Southpark Meadows center at IH-35, Tanglewood Village at Manchaca Rd., the Shady Hollow Village at Brodie Lane, and Escarpment Village in Circle C Ranch. 

There are a number of public parks in the area, including the Mary Moore Searight Metro Park. This park, with its 340+ acres of parkland on the south side of W. Slaughter Lane, has a variety of features that appeal to families, disc golfers, and others who want to just get out in nature for awhile

Golf courses in the area of Ravenscroft townhomes include the Grey Rock Golf Club (owned by the City of Austin, in Circle C Ranch), the Plum Creek Golf Club in Kyle, and the City of Austin's Jimmy Clay and Roy Kizer courses.
