History, Builder and Homes in the Parkside at Slaughter Creek
The Parkside at Slaughter Creek community of around 460 homes was developed in the years 2003 through 2007 by Standard Pacific Homes. These homes are packed with features that make them very livable for families. Potential homeowners can find homes that fit a wide variety of budgets. The homes range in size from 1,556 sq. ft. to almost 3,100 sq. ft. Home sales prices in 2010 ranged between $150k and $250k, making Parkside at Slaughter Creek one of the more affordable subdivisions in South Austin.
The streets in the Parkside at Slaughter Creek subdivision have a national parks theme. Beginning with National Parks Blvd., there are streets like Dry Tortugas Trail (a national park in the Florida Keys), Mt. Rainier Drive (a 235,625-acre mountain park in the state of Washington), and Anahuac Trail (the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge between Houston and Beaumont, Texas), for example. Shopping, Entertainment and Other Area Attractions
The development of Southpark Meadows retail center ran essentially parallel to the development of the Parkside at Slaughter Creek subdivision. Southpark Meadows is a large, modern and still-growing retail development just across IH-35 from the neighborhood. With a Super Wal-Mart, Target, Marshalls, Sports Authority, J.C. Penney’s, restaurants, theater, furniture stores and so much more, Parkside residents do not have to travel far to shop, eat or be entertained! The neighborhood is also just a few miles from Cabela's in Buda and other shopping centers in Kyle, Buda and South Austin.
Neighborhood Parks and Trails
Parkside at Slaughter Creek features several community parks (Big Thicket, Lauren & Jacob Parks), each of which has a nice gazebo. All of these parks are interconnected by walking and hiking trails that run through the greenbelt areas that surround the south and east sides of the neighborhood. Lauren Park has a playscape, swings and other play equipment for neighborhood children. It's a great place to take the children for an outing!
The Parkside at Slaughter Creek Homeowner’s Association (HOA)
Membership in the Parkside at Slaughter Creek Homeowner’s Association (HOA) is required. Fees in May 2011 were $230/year, payable annually. The HOA maintains a very nice website with neighborhood information and events, newsletters, community documents, photos and more. The HOA is managed by Goodwin Management (512.502.7540).
