The Onion Creek Club ♦ Golf, Tennis, Swimming
The primary amenity of Onion Creek is the Onion Creek Club, a private club for residents of Onion Creek. The Club and the development take their name after the creek that meanders through the the midst of the neighborhood. The Onion Creek golf course features 27 beautiful holes of golf that are lined by towering oak, pecan and cypress trees, and by, in many places, lovely homes. The Club was founded in 1974 by golfing great Jimmy Demeret, who won the Masters Championship on three occasions. He also designed the original 18 holes of the golf course. Ben Crenshaw was one of the designers of the last 9 holes in the mid 1990s. The Onion Creek Club is the birthplace of the PGA Champions (formerly Senior) Tour, serving as host of the Legends of Golf Tournament for 11 years starting in the late 1970s. It also hosted an LPGA tournament for several years. The course presents a challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Other features of the Onion Creek Club include a junior Olympic swimming pool, a large and active tennis center, fitness center, and facilities for dining and meetings. Membership in the Club is not required of residents, but many residents choose to belong.
