Lost Creek Homes & Features

The homes in the Lost Creek neighborhood were built beginning in 1974 as the City spread its wings in that direction. The area is quite attractive--marked by rolling, wooded hills and developed with varying styles of custom-built homes. Views, greenbelts One view of homes in the Lost Creek 78746 neighborhood.and, of course, the meandering Barton Creek that flows on the neighborhood's western and southern sides add to the appeal of Lost Creek and to its real estate value. The community spreads over more than 700 acres, and has over 1,150 homes in it.

Buyers can find homes that are mostly 1-story and 2-story, with a few multi-level homes in the mix. The single-level homes range in size from 1,783 sq. ft. to over 4,000 sq. ft., and typically have from 3-4 bedrooms, 2-3 baths and 2-car garages. Two-story homes sold since 2000 have ranged in size from 1,780 to 5,400 sq. ft. Lost Creek homes have 3-5 bedrooms, 2.5 to 3.5 baths (more in some larger homes). A high percentage of the homes in Lost Creek have 2-car garages.

Lost Creek Amenities and Shopping

There is no homeowners association in Lost Creek, but the neighborhood does have an active neighborhood association that sponsors a number of neighborhood events throughout the year. There are also two neighborhood parks.

Those wanting or needing to shop or dine out have a number of options available in the area near Lost Creek. These include the Village at Westlake (HEB and more), the Barton Creek Square Mall (a very popular destination in the area), the Hill Country Galleria (US-71 and Bee Caves Rd.) and many others in the Sunset Valley area.

The Barton Creek Wilderness Park (Greenbelt) is a very popular attaction in the area. It runs basically from its entrance at Mopac to the southeast corner of Lost Creek. The Park also has a public entry behind the Woods of Westlake subdivision.

Lost Creek Tax Rates

Those who live in Lost Creek have some of the lowest tax rates in the Austin, TX area. This is because the subdivision is not within the Austin city limits, and owners do not pay city taxes. The primary taxing entities are the Eanes ISD, Travis County and the Lost Creek Municipal Utility District (MUD). Tax rates in 2015 from all of the "taxers" totalled $1.90/$100 of property value.
