Features and Facts ♦ Highpointe Austin/Dripping Springs Subdivision

Lovely and stately oaks adorn the main roads through Highpointe Austin.Highpointe ♦ Hill Country Setting!

Highpointe is being developed on some 740 acres of lovely Hill Country real estate southwest of Austin. When completed, Highpointe is to have about 1,000 homes. The neighborhood is actually about 8 miles from Dripping Springs, and 19 miles from Downtown Austin. Highpointe features "oodles" of large oak trees that beautifully decorate the entry, the main streets and homesites. More than half of the homesites are greenbelt lots. The community is also gated, adding a layer of security for Highpointe homeowners!

The Highpointe Residents' Club and Other Features!

Not many neighborhoods have a community amenity center like the one in Highpointe! One that comes to mind as I write this is the one in Falcon Pointe in Pflugerville. This club for residents of Highpointe features four pools, a two-story gym/fitness center, The main pool at the Highpointe Residents' Clubmeeting rooms, a basketball court, two tennis courts, baseball field, soccer field, childrens' playscape and an outdoor pavilion with BBQ grill. The Residents' Club is situated on a lovely lake and is surrounded by a number of stately oak trees. Look across the lake to the rear of several of the builders' model homes.

The different commmunities in Highpointe are linked by over 5 miles of hike and bike trails. You might say that Highpointe has something for everyone ... except golfers. There are a number of golf courses in the area, including the Grey Rock Golf Club at Circle C Ranch.

Highpointe ♦ Builders and Home Choices

Highpointe builders include Wilshire Homes, Standard Pacific Homes, and (soon) Scott Felder Homes. As the time this page was updated (May 2011), Pulte is finishing its efforts in Highpointe.

Highpointe hills and homes!Homes in Highpointe come on four sizes of lots ranging from 65' up to 105'. There are quite a number of plans available for new construction homes, and in the resale market as well. As with other neighborhoods, Highpointe has a number of sections (or smaller neighborhoods), with homes of varying sizes, features and prices. These smaller neighborhoods include Canyon Crossing and Platinum Heights, where new homes are currently being built, and others which have been completed.

The homes in Highpointe range in size from around 2,300 sq. ft. of air-conditioned living space to over 5,200 sq. ft. Sales prices for the homes sold in the neighborhood in 2010 ranged in price from $220k to just over $465k. You can likely find a home in Highpointe that fits your lifestyle and budget.

Shopping and Other Opportunities ♦ Highpointe Subdivision Residents

It is just a few miles from this peaceful setting in the Southwest Austin Hill Country to plenty of shopping, eating and entertainment opportunities. Highpointe residents go to places like the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave (15 miles), the Barton Creek Mall (15 miles), Escarpment Village in Circle C Ranch (HEB grocery store, eating and small businesses), Home Depot and HEB-plus in Dripping Springs, and much more at the intersections of US-290 and Mopac (Sam's, Best Buy, Super WalMart, e.g.) and William Cannon and Mopac.

Outdoor activities accessible from Highpointe include the Hamilton Pool Preserve, Pedernales Falls State Park, the Highland Lakes (including Lake Travis and Lake Austin), and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

HighPointe Property Owners Association

Membership in the HighPointe Property Owners Association is required. Dues (or fees) are used to keep up the landscaping in the community, take care of the Residents' Club, enforce deed restrictions, etc. POA dues mid-2011 were $219/quarter. The POA is managed by Pioneer Real Estate Services (512.447.4496).

Real Estate Taxes in Highpointe

Part of the price of living in the Hill Country in an upper end subdivision like Highpointe is higher taxes. Why is this so? Though the subdivision is not in either the Austin or Dripping Springs city limits (no city taxes), the utility services (water and sewage, e.g.) are provided through Hays County Municipal District #5. The overall tax rate in 2010 was nearly $3/$100 in property value. Tax rates and property values typically change annually.
