The Colina Vista neighborhood is being developed by D.R. Horton Homes. In October 2011, the neighborhood is progressing nicely. The first home sale recorded in the Austin MLS was closed on 2/28/2011. A good number of units have been sold since then or are or in various stages of construction.
Colina Vista will have a total of 146 units (73 buildings) when the development is completed. At the current rate of development, it is expected to take another 2 or so years until the subdivision is finished.
Features, Plans and Amenities ♦ Colina Vista Austin
 A total of three floor plans have been available for purchase in Colina Vista, all of which have (per the builders plans) from 2,320 to 2,429 sq. ft. of living space. Two of the plans offer downstairs master bedrooms. The plan which features an upstairs master has 3 bedrooms up and 3 full baths.
Prices of these condo homes range average around $300k. All of the condos have two stories, and are built in a duplex style of two units per building.
Some home sites have lot premiums of around $50k. Why? Because they are built along the edge of the Balcones Canyonland Preserve, and provide their owners with super Hill Country views. These homes also were specially designed to enable them to be built with portions of their structures over the preserve.
Near the end of October 2011, the builder is finalizing plans to offer 3-4 additional models in Colina Vista. These units will provide buyers with the options to purchase condos with less living space. Floor plans and prices for these new designs have not been released.
 Condo homes in Colina Vista have many energy efficiency and other standard design features. Some of the key features are granite countertops and ceramic tile backsplash in the kitchen, 42" kitchen cabinets, elevated ceilings, two or three celing fans, crown moulding, double-paned low-E windows, 8' entry doors, insulated garage door, radiant barrier roof decking, and 4" wrought iron fence.
Plans for the Colina Vista neighborhood include a community pool that will be located adjacent to the current model homes. Construction is expected to begin in late 2011.
Colina Vista Austin ♦ Homeowner Association & Utilities
Membership in the Colina Vista HOA is required. Monthly fees are $175 (October 2011). The primary providers of utilities for the neighborhood are the City of Austin (electricity, water, sewer and trash) and Texas Gas Service (natural gas).

Public Schools for Students ♦ Colina Vista Austin
Students living in Colina Vista attend schools operated by the Leander Independent School District. The schools assigned to the neighborhood for the fall of 2011 are River Place Elementary, Four Points Middle School, Vandergrift High School. Vandergrift High and Four Points Middle are adjacent to Colina Vista, meaning that students could have the option of walking to school. The parents and prospective homeowners are encouraged to verify current schools with LISD since school boundaries are redrawn from time to time.
