Cedar Hills Elgin ♦ Neighborhood and Schools
Cedar Hills is a community of custom-built homes in a nice rural section of NW Bastrop County. If you're looking for a spot in the country, Cedar Hills may be for you!
The first homes in this neighborhood were built in 1975. Building has continued through the succeeding years, with a few homes constructed since 2001. These homes vary widely in size, features and style. They have 2-4 bedrooms, 1-2 stories, and up to 3 garage spaces for your cars and stuff. These residences are built on lots of around 0.4 acres to over 2 acres. All homes have septic systems, and get their water from a private water company (or local water district).
The neighborhood has a small community park, swimming pool and fishing pond, along with play equipment for your children and picnic tables for get-togethers with family and neighbors.
The Cedar Hills neighborhood is located between Bastrop and Elgin (closer to Elgin), meaning that residents of Cedar Hills live pretty close to facilities for shopping, entertainment, eating out and medical care. The community is also just east of the Greater Austin area and its employment and other opportunities. If you work in Austin, you can catch a bus (Capital Area Rural Transportation System -- CARTS) to the Manor Park & Ride, then board another to Austin.
School-age children attend the schools of the Elgin Independent School District. At the time this neighborhood description was posted, the schools assigned were Booker T. Washington Elementary, Elgin Middle and Elgin High. Parents are encouraged to verify current schools with the Elgin ISD as part of the home-purchase process.
