The Brookside neighborhood was begun in 2003 by builders Wall Homes and Choice Homes. The original phase of the community was completed in 2009-2010 by DR Horton Homes, whose last sale in Brookside was closed in November 2010.

Travelers can get to the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) via SH-45 (just north of Buda), then to the SH-130 toll road which leads to US-71 and the airport.
SHOPPING: Residents of Brookside have access to a lot of shopping developments along IH-35 in Kyle. Three developments, located on the east and west sides of IH-35 at Kyle Parkway, are Kyle Marketplace, Kyle Crossing (HEB Plus & Target,) and The Village at Kyle (WalMart SuperCenter & Lowe's, e.g.). The Kyle Town Centre development (Home Depot and EVO Entertainment) is at the next IH-35 exit to the north. The Cabela's store in Buda is a very popular place for hunting and fishing lovers. The South Austin area features Southpark Meadows (WalMart, RoomStore, Sam's, Target, and many more). You can also visit many other places in San Marcos (Tanger Outlets & Premium Outlets, e.g.), New Braunfels and San Antonio.
MEDICAL AND GOLF: Brookside golfers can play at Kyle's Plum Creek Golf Course, and at other courses in the area. Healthcare facilities include the Seton Medical Center Hays (located at The Village of Kyle development) and several emergency/walk-in places in the area.
