This large residential real estate development in the southern edge of Leander began around 1983. A number of builders were involved in its initial development. In more recent years, more homes were added by Milburn and D.R. Horton Homes. Aspen Creek Homes also built some new homes in Block House Creek beginning in 2009.
Block House Creek is located right between US-183 and the newish US-183A tollway, making access to Austin, Round Rock, Leander and other locations pretty simple.
Block House Creek Leander ♦ Amenities and Nearby Attractions
The Block House Creek MUD (see more notes below) operates five neighborhood parks (Apache, Tonkawa, Tumlinson, Comanche and Jumano). These parks offer many activities for neighborhood families, including playscapes, tennis and basketball courts, and two swimming two pools (Apache and Tumlinson). Residents also can enjoy the hike and bike trails in the neighborhood.
In addition to these amenities, there are four public parks just to the south of the neighborhood on Brushy Creek Road (including Brushy Creek Lake Park). These parks feature sports facilities, hike and bike trails, swimming and fishing, playscapes and more. Lake Travis is also a short drive from Block House Creek.
Nearby shopping outlets include the recent retail developments along Whitestone Blvd. (FM-1431) in Cedar Park (including the 1890 Ranch Shopping Center), and the nearby Lakeline Mall. Golfing opportunities include the Avery Ranch Golf Club (NW Austin) and the Crystal Falls Golf Club (Leander). The Cedar Park Center opened in September 2009 with a George Strait concert. It is the home of the Texas Stars minor league hockey team.

Home owners in some sections of Block House Creek developed by Milburn and D.R. Horton must belong to the Block House Creek HOA. The HOA website has plenty of good information on the subdivision, including a map of which sections are under the jurisdiction of the HOA.
Sections of Block House Creek that were developed before Milburn/D.R. Horton and by other builders operate under different restrictive covenants. The Block House Creek Municipal Utility District website Q&A page has a good discussion of the variation of restrictions in the neighborhood. The neighborhood parks and pools are owned and operated by the Block House Creek MUD. It also provides for collection of trash and recyclables in Block House Creek.
