The Austin Hill Country
The area west and southwest of Austin Texas, known as the Hill Country, is definitely a popular place for real estate development and for living! This land is known for its spectacular views, proximity to lakes and golf courses, and home values.
As you might expect, the demand for homes in this region of Central Texas is strong. A "Sunday afternoon drive" through these areas, a round of golf on one of the golf courses, or a meal at a restaurant with a view of Lake Austin or Lake Travis will make the reason clear.
The cost of owning a home here is typically much higher than in areas south, east and north of Austin. Residential development continues along the main arteries in Austin's Hill Country -- RM 2244 (Bee Caves Road), the Southwest Parkway, US-71 W, US-290 W, RR 620 (Lakeway), RM 2222, for example.
